Julieta Hsiung

Julieta Hsiung (b. 1997, Suzhou, China)

Lives and works in Madrid/ Shanghai.

Julieta Hsiung (Jiaxuan Xiong) is a Chinese multidisciplinary artist whose practice reflects a confluence of cultural, philosophical, and poetic influences. With academic backgrounds in both finance and linguistics from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from TAI University School of the Arts in Madrid, her work explores the intersection of language, memory, and materiality.

Drawing from philosophy, literature, nature, and her feminine identity, she works across poetry, drawing, video, photography, sculpture, knitting, embroidery, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Moonskin and Three Fingers investigate the aesthetic and conceptual roles of language in art, translating poetic abstraction into tangible forms such as visualized diary poetry or sculptural dreamscapes. Her works have been shown at spaces including Círculo de Bellas Artes and Pradiauto Gallery in Madrid, and her collective performance project Sinfín Lingual was featured at Documenta 15 in Kassel, Germany.
